Got some questions from Step By Step Mixing Challenge students that I wanted to answer for everyone considering joining us next week.
"When will the sessions take place?"
In case you're wondering, the challenge will be live the first time I run it so you can join each session every day if you'd
like to fully immerse yourself in the challenge.
Each mix training session will take place at 10 am Pacific Time, Monday thru Friday.
"What if I can't make the sessions?"
If you cannot make each training session, don't worry. You will have access to all the replays as they become available inside
your members area.
That means you can take the challenge at your own pace, even if you can't make every day of the challenge.
"What if I can't do five days in a row?"
That's also fine. The goal of the challenge is for you to finish the challenge, and I'd obviously love to see you in our live
sessions every day...but if you need more time than five days, you'll still have access to the materials.
I'd rather you finish the challenge and learn to make better mixes in five weeks than keep struggling for months without finishing any of your music.
"How do the coaching calls work?"
The
coaching calls are designed to field any questions as you go through the step-by-step mixing process every day.
They are NOT open-ended Q&A calls for chatting or hanging out.
(I will however reserve the right to take any questions about Iceland if you have them...as always...🙄)
The coaching calls
are for tackling any issue you have with the challenge as you go through each day's goal.
For instance, the first training session at 10 am on Monday, June 10th will cover general volume balancing, organization, and rough mixing.
The Q&A coaching call that's at 1 PM that same day will help you with any questions you have regarding that day's specific
topic.
That means that if you're stuck figuring out the best way to organize your tracks, struggling to keep the faders balanced throughout the song, or have technical questions regarding your multi-tracks, I will help you during that call so that you can make progress to the next day's goal.
However...
If you're catching up and need your questions answered about Day 1 during Wednesday's call (our third Q&A call), then that's absolutely fine. The goal of the coaching calls is to help you feel confident to reach the next level of the step-by-step mixing process.
