No one becomes a bishop without a beating

In Iceland, we have some really weird sayings. Every culture has its strange idioms and phrasings, and Iceland is no exception.

Like this one:

No one becomes a bishop without a beating

Now, I'm not entirely sure why it was necessary to add violence to becoming a bishop, but we used to be Vikings so I'm imagining a Hunger Games scenario where bishops were pitted against each other in a deathmatch on top of a glacier.

Each aspiring bishop would dress up in their full clergy garb and duke it out with their crosiers as fancy battle sticks.

It would be like Game of Thrones meets that weird fight scene between Jim Carrey and Matthew Broderick in Cable Guy!

Just try to watch that scene without picturing Viking Bishops doing battle while freezing their asses off on top of a glacier!

However, what that saying means is that you need to apply yourself and learn in order to reach your goals. You need to tackle the obstacles along your way and use the skills you have to overcome them.

It won't be easy but it will be rewarding.

Just like learning to EQ can be difficult and every mix will throw challenges your way. But if you learn the necessary skills you'll overcome those obstacles and achieve your goals.

That's where my EQ Strategies guide comes in. If you're struggling to understand the frequency spectrum and want to learn how to make all the instruments fit together in your mixes, you should grab my ultimate guide to EQ.

If you don't, you might end up like those lame latté-drinking wool scarves.
