How to make every day a success for your music career

Published: Fri, 12/29/17

In the last email we've discussed a few important things you need to have to succeed in the music industry.

First, you need to have a business mindset to make more money with your music.

If you don't have that already, you can learn it from Joe Gilder in his new Home Studio Business course.

Second, you need to have the mentality of the hustler that makes things happen. That means going out and meeting new people. Put yourself in the middle of your music scene so that you can jump on opportunities when they arise. It's scary to improve your social skills and learn how to network, but there's hardly another skill that doesn't pay off as much as those.

Third, and this is the one we haven't talked about before, is that you not only need to diversify your income stream to create a successful gig (like we discussed before) but you also need to diversify your jobs to create a successful career.

That means doing multiple things. For example, I make a full-time living in the music industry doing the following things:

  • Gigging
  • Freelance recording
  • Mixing and mix coaching
  • Writing and teaching about music and audio
  • Music production and marketing consulting
  • Developing marketing strategies for brands

Doing all these different things is so much fun!

You'll never be bored and no day will ever be the same.

As a home studio musician, this is simply what you have to do to succeed today. You have to fill a lot of the roles other companies used to fill back in the old days.

But you know what, that just makes you a more successful person with a more diverse skill set. If one income stream dries up one day, so what? You still have a few other income streams to rely on (not to mention an extra chunk of time to fill with some other money-making activities).

If a diverse music-making career is something you're interested in but you don't think you have the business skills to think you need to succeed, I recommend checking out Joe Gilder's Home Studio Business course now. He's been doing the professional home studio thing for longer than most so he definitely knows what you need to know to succeed.

Check it out here and start making a career out of your home studio in 2018.

P.S.

If you're bored with business and just want to learn new audio production skills, Joe is also having an end-of-the-year sale where you can get his other products for 50% off.

Whether you need help with recording vocals, producing songs, arranging drum beats or understanding compression, he's got it covered right here. His sale ends on the 31st so you'll have to hurry to take advantage of the discount.

Have a great weekend,

Björgvin
