Struggling With Making Better Mixes? Read This WHILE You Mix

Published: Thu, 02/01/18

If you're trying to apply the knowledge you learn at Audio Issues in your mixes, but can't seem to piece it all together as you mix, maybe you should take a page out of this guy's playbook.

Craig from Spain left a review for Step By Step Mixing on Spain's Amazon page the other day:

"As soon as I started reading this book I learned something simple that I didn’t know. I’ve been doing a mix as I read, I’m halfway through the book now and my mix sounds much better than my usual mixes. The information is explained clearly and is easy to follow (I recommend reading it as you mix like I’m doing). In short , it’s great value, not expensive and you’re going to benefit from it." -Craig, Amazon Spain Review

My favorite part from this review is not the warm fuzzy feeling I get when people like my work (I'm a little vain sometimes...) but the action he's taking to apply the knowledge he's learning.

With the amount of information you can learn online, it's easy to get overloaded with endless online courses, eBooks and audio seminars. The thing is, just the very act of buying something that's supposed to help you gives you a little dopamine rush of satisfaction. It tricks you into a feeling of accomplishment.

However, that tiny rush pales in comparison to the giant dose of gratification you get when you finish something and actually learn from it!

Not that I have any experience with Crack Cocaine, but I'd compare it to the difference between chasing the high from Crack or applying the practice of meditation every morning.

One gets you high, stupid and flat broke. The other helps you achieve lifelong calm and happiness.

You choose which one you like, but I'd highly recommend the latter.

Don't just buy my Step By Step Mixing book to chase your imaginary dreams of the perfect mix. If you do decide to buy it, please make sure you immediately fire up a new multi-track and start applying the techniques you learn.

If you don't have any multi-tracks for practice, here are a few hundred ones to choose from, courtesy of Mike Senior, who keeps swapping spots with me on the Amazon best-seller lists.

I wrote the book so that you could easily follow along with a mix, just like Craig is doing, and see immediate improvements in your sounds.
