We've been talking about EQ'ing quite a bit
this last week because of the new EQ Strategies - Your Ultimate Guide to EQ, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of the two new podcast episodes we've released over at Tales of the Homestead.
In the 1800s, Americans knew they had billions of acres.
But for some reason, the population all concentrated in the rural cities of the East Coast.
Have you ever wondered what prompted people to start moving out west?
It was something called the Homestead Act, and it might have something to do with why our podcast is called Tales from the Homestead, and why Gary's studio is called Homestead Studios.
In episode six, we discuss the inspiration behind the names and we chat about the first instrumental song on the new album, called The Purple Door.
We already talked about how you're never too old to be creative as a part of episode 4 because Gary didn't start writing lyrics until his fifties.
However, you may not know this, but he didn't even start singing until his second Carnivaleros album!
The song, The Die Was Cast, was actually an instrumental on the
first Carnivaleros album, but it's made a comeback on the new album, complete with melody and lyrics.
In episode seven we also talk a bit more about production, more specifically:
- How to use a desk chair for percussion
- Selective muting to fit things into the mix
- Radical panning for separation between the
instruments
- Johnny Cash's acoustic guitar snare drum trick
Listen to episode seven here.
Have a great weekend!
