After an hour coaching call, I decided to create
a custom mix video for Patrick to clear up any confusion he had about mixing the low-end once and for all.
I wanted to make sure he could see exactly how I would mix his bass to make it fuller and more present in the mix.
So I did a quick walkthrough where I added some parallel processing to his bass. Nothing I hadn't done a hundred times before. Parallel processing is one of my go-to mixing tricks. I
have a mixing template complete with a random assortment of busses I tend to use as "coloring" and "sweetening" whenever I think a mix needs something "more" than just the standard processing.
After he watched the video, he tried my tricks on his mix.
The results blew his mind. Here's what he said:
"...adding parallel compression to the bass was a
complete eye-opener. I’m realizing now that the bass sounded hollow prior to doing that. Mixing in some compression completely filled in the hollowness with wonderful, fat, meaty energy. So the bass now sounds super solid."
Now, I know that not everybody can afford the custom mix coaching. But it was comments like these that I got over and over again that made me realize just how powerful a few parallel processing tricks can make your
mix.
That's why I put together the Parallel Processing Masterclass. It's short and to the point. I don't spend any time talking about any aspects of mixing. It's all about using this one technique to make your drums more powerful, your bass fuller, your guitars wider and your vocals more present.
You'll get a quick PDF reference guide in addition to 5 quick videos that show you exactly how to use
these techniques in the mix.
I'm only making the masterclass available until tomorrow, so make sure you get it before then.
