His name was Ian Shepherd.
He was a polite brit and a nice chap, so we got along well.
He was also incredibly smart when it came to mastering and I had followed his site, Production Advice, for a while at that point.
This was back when Audio Issues was at most a toddler, but maybe even closer to a crying baby.
One time, I sent him a sample master of how I mastered one of my singles. I even shot a video of exactly what I did. He mastered the same mix and shot a tutorial video of what he did to my mix.
His sounded better, naturally. But at that time he told me, "when you finish the album, let me know and I'll happily master it for you."
That was a good kick in the butt to get the album finished. I jumped at the chance to get a big name like Ian's on the credits of my album so a couple months later I sent it to him for mastering.
My drummer later commented, "Wow, it was so awesome to hear all the entire album flow so smoothly from one song to another."
Up until that point we had been listening to the final mixes. And although they sounded fine, they didn't have that final mastering polish that makes a collection of songs sound like an album.
That's what Ian did for me, and that's what he teaches you how to do in the Home Mastering Masterclass.

Here's what Ian Hudson had to say about the Home Mastering Masterclass:
"One concern I had was I did think it was a bit pricey...... just being honest..... it's actually why I didn't grab it right away, and then I figured, what the heck, go for it, and I am happy I bought it. I really enjoyed it and here's why. It was simple, easy to understand and made sense to someone like me. A lot of stuff out there is way too detailed and confusing, you just got right to the point and made sense..... that's a skill my friend. I find
when I read some stuff, I learn a lot but am left more confused than when I started.... I have more questions about what I learned than answers, ya know... the video was a great way to see it in action. The learning curve is huge!!!! But I think I'm getting somewhere lately, and you have really helped."
