Home recorded drums don't have to sound like amateur recordings. Those aren't synonyms.

Even if you record drums in your home studio, you can still drastically change the feel of a space by using artificial reverb, for instance.

So even if your home studio is tiny, your drums don't have to be. Add a good dose of parallel compression to your drums and you'll transform them from a small and weak sounding kit into a powerful and spacious drum mix.
