Sometimes the best way to make progress is to take a break from forcing it to happen.
When the mix isn't working out just like you want it, maybe it's time to give it a rest. That's what happened to me yesterday during my live mix streams.
The mix wasn't coming together quite as I wanted it, although the tracks were great and the song was fun. I hope those of you who joined still found it useful to see me troubleshoot and experiment with different mixing methods, and I appreciated all the input you guys gave.
So when you're struggling with a particular production or a mix and it's just not working out, maybe it's time to take a break and clear your mind.
And what better way to spend the time than organizing and re-decorating your studio...especially during these quarantined times.
One of our regular contributors, Noella Nix, a music producer from Australia, has a great post today about how to beat cabin fever by organizing and re-decorating your home studio.
She writes, "Coronavirus has kept a lot of us confined to our homes, which isn't really anything new for most of us producers and engineers who are used to spending hours in the studio. However, there's never been a better time to organize our home studios, neaten cables, dust off all our gear and maybe even do some re-arranging.
No matter how small your space is, there are always things you can add or change to create a more moody environment that will inspire your creativity.
I'm here to give you lots of decorating tips for your home studio and I've attached a bunch of Home Studio examples from Producers and Engineers around the globe for inspiration!"
