Vic was tired of his banking career, and honestly, I couldn't blame him.
Compared to a career in music production, banking sounds so boring that I'd rather spend an eternity in purgatory.
Unsurprisingly, banking didn't enable him to express his creative side and he wanted to follow his passion for great music, including songwriting, arranging, recording, and producing.
During our workshop this week, I talked about my belief in the Japanese term Kaizen or continuous improvement.
I like you to nurture a long-term view of your music, which means that it’s not just about recording and mixing your song.
I want you to have a goal that starts with the songwriting and ends with having a career, whether you’re a songwriter, producer, mixing engineer, or musician.
He told me he joined Mix Finisher Formula after our workshop because "I became comfortable with your relaxed approach and mostly your desire to help others."
He told me, "I believe in constant growth and development through structured learning. Music is natural for me and your [Mix Finisher Formula] seems straightforward yet sufficiently detailed to teach me a proper methodology with which to achieve outstanding results"
What he'll learn through Mix Finisher Formula is more of the technical knowledge of music/studio production so that he can gain the technical skills needed to reach higher quality productions.
Although he is a novice with regard to the "engineering" skills, the comprehensive modules within the course will show him the best ways to build a solid foundation on mixing.
Gina is another newly enrolled Mix Finisher Formula student and she's been zipping through the content and bonuses since she joined on Monday.
She told me she is a long time touring musician and in the time of COVID-19 she was forced to pivot to her home studio.
She told me, "I was going to do this in five years. Nope. NOW. I love taking my music into the studio, but I have never had the time to develop the skills necessary to engineer/produce on my own. I have been working through free tutorials on youtube for several months, looking for the right instructor. You are it. AND you made this affordable! "I am currently working on some singer/songwriter stuff and some electronic/dub/synth stuff, and I really love the
variety of examples you offer."
She told me she needed both the theory AND the practical applications from start to finish so it's no wonder she's already enjoying what I have to offer because that's how I design all of my materials.
When I asked her what she thought about the materials so far, she was brief...probably because she was busy watching the videos and applying the techniques to her music...she said, "So far, so awesome. Just ready to hit the ground running."
Stefan is the third and final student in our Mix Finisher Formula stories today.
He joined because of his insecurities about mixing. He told me, "I would mix something but never have a specific workflow and not always sure if I’m making the correct decisions."
Second-guessing your skills is a terrible feeling, which is why I'm there for you every week to make sure you don't have any doubts as you work through the modules and apply what you learn.
At the start of the course, I ask to hear one of your mixes because I want to know where you're at and what you can do to improve.
Then, at the end of the six-week course, I'll ask to hear another mix that uses all the techniques you'll have learned from my 15 years of experience to hear just how far you've come in your journey.
He told me he was struggling with depth in the mix and was wondering how much of it was based on reverb and delay, and how much of it was based on parallel processing. Luckily, the course covers both because my goal is to make MFF the most comprehensive mixing course you need to make your mixes stand up to the professional records you love so much.
Stefan was looking for a "one-stop-shop start to finish approach" and that's exactly how I designed Mix Finisher Formula.

The course closes this week, and all the birthday bonuses go away tomorrow so make sure you take advantage of that today before your time runs out.
