"What interface should I get?"
"Do you recommend these monitors or those monitors?"
"What about the cheapest but best mic?"
You’ve probably wondered some of those
questions.
Some of you might have also asked me some variation of them.
And it’s difficult to give a good answer because I haven’t tried every single piece of equipment the industry makes.
I literally wouldn’t do anything else if I needed experience with every single piece of gear in order to answer a
question.
So it’s hard for me to give you advice on what to buy, not just because I haven’t tried it, but because I don’t know your specific situation.
Your situation will be different than mine.
- You might have a higher budget.
- You might be looking for a different type of sound.
- You might be replacing something that you don’t like anymore.
Everybody’s situation is different. But I
can tell you how I do all of my buying.
It’s simple.
I just look online, insert my criteria for what I want, narrow it down to what I think I like and then read the reviews.
Reviews are great. You can really tell when something is good or bad.
However, you can’t always take reviews seriously because there are a lot of idiots out there that leave bad reviews just because they got annoyed.
These are the reviews that have “USER ERROR” written all over them.
And those are the reviews that put doubts in your head about whether or not you should get a specific piece of gear.
But if you know how to sort the sheep out from the goats (I learned that saying from Mike Senior believe or not...) it's easier to make a more educated purchase.
That’s what I show you in my buying guide video that comes with Recording Strategies.
It’s my step-by-step process of what I do every time I go looking for new equipment. It helps me find the right quality gear, in my price range.
It allows me to buy gear I
know I want (and sometimes need...) while being confident that I'm getting a good deal on a quality piece of equipment.
It's all a part of the new and improved Recording Strategies - Planning the Perfect Session tutorial package.
