Once you got it, how did you ever live without it?

I've mentioned my swanky new kitchen and how I can't find anything in it in a recent post.

I'm slowly getting the hang of it, Mrs. Doubtfire'ing my way around...

But I wanted to talk about how luxury creeps up on you.

My new kitchen has a fridge with an icemaker in the door.

Now that's luxury for me!

I can't believe all the years I went without having easy access to ice. I always had to fill those stupid cubes up, spill some of the water on the floor on the way to the fridge and then try to cram them in to somewhere that already didn't have any room.

Talk about first world problems.

It was actually the same at my last house. That's when I first had a dishwasher.

And I looked upon it and saw that it was good!

Gone were the days of washing every single dish by hand. I could actually chill and watch TV after dinner now, not spend half an hour doing manual labor after every meal.

Let the machines do the work!

It's kind of like that with setting up your studio.

It might start off small with a pair of headphones and a computer.

But sooner or later you graduate into bigger and better gear.

And when that happens you wonder how you lived without it so long.

Sure, you can get the job done. But the new stuff makes it all so much easier.

That's how I especially feel about my new studio.

It's such an improvement over the other one.

I got a few new monitors for better monitoring and translation.

But the most important part was the new layout of my acoustic treatment.

I got some awesome free advice from Auralex and using some simple DIY techniques I saved myself over $300 when I was renovating the studio.
