Recording Electric Guitar With ALL the Effects

Published: Tue, 10/20/15

Morning!

In this week's Long Wait Patreon video(support for some exclusive production content) we go over some of my thoughts on recording electric guitar.

Most specifically, our guitar player gets some great tones through his amp and effects so we pre-produced most of the sounds onto tape, without worrying too much about making a clean DI for backup.

Simply put, committing to "tape" with a particular sound in mind just means less mixing work for me :)

One more thing that's not mentioned in the video, we ran the mics through an API 500 series clone and a Neotek preamp with both of them going through an 1176 compressing a few dBs on the peaks.

In case you're interested :)

Stick it out to the end of the video for a special live performance in the studio from our Friday Periscope. Follow us here for more of that.
