Is Mixing With 5 Plug-ins Right For You?

Published: Thu, 03/17/16

I get questions from people interested in joining Mixing With 5 Plug-ins.

I'm sure you share some of their curiosity so I thought I'd answer them for everyone.

Is this a beginner's course?

I would say that this course would fall into the "intermediate" category. It's not simply for beginners because I expect a certain level of knowledge on using plug-ins and your DAW in general (whatever DAW you're using).

I won't teach you to import the mix session (just drag and drop audio usually works btw...) or tell you what a fader or a pan knob is. I assume you know at least that much.

However, it's not incredibly advanced either as I'm not working with 50+ tracks where I need to really carve EQ pockets for everything. I also don't do extremely complicated routing or mixing work.

Remember that I'm a big fan of the 80/20 rule that says that 20% of the effort results in 80% of the results. I want to teach you the most important 20% to concentrate on so that you can get great sounding mixes in less time.

Like Ken Bauer said after he finished the course: " I realized that all you need is basically only these 5 plugins."

How long will course be online/available?

The course starts as soon as you sign up with the Mixing With No Plug-ins video and the multi-tracks. But every 7 days after that I will be sending you the video of the week tackling that week's plug-in/processor.

We'll start with EQ and then move down through the plug-ins one week at a time.

However, you can always log into the members area to take the course at your own pace.

I have another one of your products, how is this one different?

Mixing With 5 Plug-ins is my flagship course. It's much more in-depth and comprehensive than any of my other courses. For instance, in Quick Mixing I take a simple song and mix it in one sitting telling you about everything I did along the way.

Mixing With 5 Plug-ins is much more than that. I don't just mix. I also explain everything about each plug-in and go much more in-depth into the theory and practice of mixing in general.

Whereas Quick Mixing is a quick mix session with me talking about only one song, Mixing With 5 Plug-ins includes much more information about how to use EQ, compression, reverb, delay and saturation in any of your mixes, not just the one we're working on in the course.
