If you're frustrated with all the contradictory information about mixing online, try having a baby...
Nobody agrees on anything!
One [Insert Important Childcare Support Network] of America says one thing.
Another [Insert Equally Crucial Kid Community] of America says another.
And if you've ever ventured into one of the audio gear forums (that shall not be named) with a n00b question, you've probably been treated better than by the baby forums - where everyone's an expert in what's best for your baby.
If you don't do itĀ their way exactly, you might as well be charged with child endangerment, criminal negligenceĀ and bad manners.
"CPS is on their way!" I can hear them foaming at the mouth, commenting furiously from their holier-than-thou highchair.
Not to mention...whether you like it or not, you've enlisted yourself as an unsuspecting soldier in the mommy wars, the coldest of all Cold Wars.
And don't get me started on the difference between the United States and Iceland. My sister had a baby a couple of weeks after me and they're following their own set of rules!
Luckily, you're not here for parenting advice. I wouldn't be qualified enough to help you anyway!
Obviously, mixing a record is a lot more straightforward than successfully raising a child, but that doesn't mean you won't find contradictory information about it online.
- "Never boost more than a couple of dB!"
- "Always cut, NEVER boost!"
- "You'll kill your mix with a ratio that's higher than 2:1!"
- "You need to smash your compressor in parallel to get loud mixes!"
In this contradictory world, you have two choices:
- Keep following random information that makes you mix in circles so you never finish a song.
- Or get the Step By Step Mixing System and learn my proven, fool-proof process for creating pro mixes using the five plug-ins you already have in your DAW.
Even in my sleep-deprived and hazy state, I think the choice is pretty clear...
